A 101.27 carat diamond has been sold at Christie’s latest auction for over $6 million. According to the auction house, the stone is the largest colorless diamond to be offered at auction in 18 years.

The huge diamond, which is set in a tiara, is one of only four colorless diamonds weighing over 100 carats to have ever come up for sale. The diamond was the largest ever sold in Asia.

Over $60.1 million worth of jewelry was sold during the auction in Hong Kong. Christie’s said the diamond’s appearance on the market had “created a sensation.”

The new owner will have the right to name the diamond.

Christie’s International Director for Jewelry and the auctioneer at the sale, Francois Curiel, noted: “The world record price for the colorless diamond sale was broken.”

The internally flawless stone was cut from a 460-carat rough diamond and has 92 facets.
